India's tour of New Zealand gets under way on October 22 and runs through to December 1, a near six-week assignment spanning five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests — 12 fixtures across all three formats in a single tour. It is India's next major commitment once the West Indies series decider in Bengaluru is done, and Shreyas Iyer, confirmed as T20I captain when India recalled Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the squad earlier this month, leads the side into the white-ball opener.
The five-match T20I series opens in Christchurch on October 22, with a second fixture at the same venue on October 24. The series then moves to Wellington on October 27, Auckland on October 30 and closes in Hamilton on November 1. New Zealand will be led by Mitchell Santner, with Michael Bracewell and Adam Milne both returning to the hosts' squad after respective injury layoffs.
A five-match ODI series follows, beginning in Auckland on November 4 before moving to Wellington (November 7), Hamilton (November 10) and finishing with back-to-back matches at Mount Maunganui's Bay Oval on November 13 and 15. India's ODI and Test squads had not been formally announced at the time of writing, but Shubman Gill is reported to continue in his existing role as India's ODI and Test captain across the rest of this leg of the tour.
The tour closes with a two-match Test series: the first at the Basin Reserve in Wellington from November 19-23, and the second in Christchurch from November 27 to December 1. Both Tests fall within the current World Test Championship cycle, giving the series direct bearing on both sides' standings heading into 2027.
A 12-match, three-format tour is an unusually long single assignment by recent standards for either side, and it will test squad depth as much as individual form — rotation through the white-ball legs looks likely given the volume of cricket inside a six-week window. For New Zealand, the return of Bracewell and Milne adds bowling options across formats; for India, how selectors manage workload between the T20I group under Iyer and the squads still to be named for the ODI and Test legs will be one of the more interesting selection stories of the tour.
