Rain had the final word on India's series-deciding 5th T20I against West Indies at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, with the match called off after persistent showers and the five-match series finishing level at 2-2. Neither side could land the knockout blow that had looked likely heading into the decider.
India were put in and reached 118 for 5 in 7.4 overs before rain returned and ultimately ended the contest without a result. Ishan Kishan top-scored with a quick 30 off 10 balls, and Naman Dhir was unbeaten on 24 off just six deliveries when play was stopped for good. West Indies never got the chance to bat.
The teams had traded wins through the series — India took the opener in Lucknow behind Shreyas Iyer's century, before West Indies hit back, including Shai Hope's century in Hyderabad to level the series at 2-2 heading into Bengaluru. A washout was a flat way for a competitive series to end, but it meant West Indies' push for a first bilateral T20I series win on Indian soil fell just short, without either side able to settle it on the field.
For Shreyas Iyer's India, a share of the series is a reasonable outcome against a West Indies side that pushed them hard throughout, particularly through Hope's and Brandon King's form with the bat. For Shai Hope's tourists, the rain will sting — they arrived in Bengaluru with real momentum and a share of the spoils, rather than the series win that was in sight, is how the tour's T20I leg ends.
Both sides now shift focus to their next assignments, with India's white-ball group turning attention to the upcoming tour of New Zealand later this month. Fantasy players should note that a shortened, rain-hit contest like this is a reminder to always check the toss and weather radar before locking a squad on matchday.
