India A's ODI squad for the series against Australia A has two further changes beyond Hardik Pandya's withdrawal: Suryansh Shedge has been officially confirmed as Pandya's replacement, and Anukul Roy has been added after Naman Dhir was pulled into India's senior T20I squad for the series against West Indies. Both changes have been made ahead of the series opener at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground on October 6.
The 23-year-old Suryansh Shedge is a Mumbai all-rounder — a right-handed batter and right-arm medium-pacer — who plays his IPL cricket for Punjab Kings. He is not entirely new to the senior set-up: Shedge earned a maiden national call-up as early as June 2026, when he replaced an injured Nitish Kumar Reddy for a T20I series, on the back of a run of strong domestic form that included a key role in Mumbai's 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title and 147 runs across five matches on an India A tri-series trip to Sri Lanka. His inclusion now gives the India A one-day squad a fresh all-round option in Pandya's absence rather than simply redistributing the workload among the players already named.
Dhir's move is not an injury story: the left-handed batting all-rounder has instead been promoted straight into India's senior T20I squad for the series against West Indies, taking the spot vacated when Washington Sundar was withdrawn to focus on Ranji Trophy preparation. With Dhir unavailable for India A as a result, left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Anukul Roy has been drafted in as his replacement. Roy was already on the move before the call-up came through, having been part of the Rest of India squad that won the Irani Cup in Srinagar before travelling on to join India A in Puducherry.
Between Pandya's injury and Dhir's promotion, India A's one-day squad for the Australia A series has now changed twice since first being named, but the overall depth remains intact: Ruturaj Gaikwad continues as captain, with Devdutt Padikkal as his deputy, and the squad still carries a strong top order and bowling attack even with both changes factored in. For both Shedge and Roy, a three-match series against a touring Australia A party that includes fringe Test players gives a meaningful audition in conditions and against opposition that matter for future selection.
