Matches are scheduled for a 7 PM IST start throughout, and — like the ODIs — the venues are spread wide, giving five different host cities a fixture apiece.
None of the eight matches repeats a venue, which is a deliberate scheduling choice BCCI has leaned on in recent home seasons — it spreads international cricket, and the revenue and buzz that comes with it, across a broader set of host associations rather than concentrating fixtures in the usual metro grounds. Thiruvananthapuram and New Chandigarh, in particular, don't host international white-ball cricket every year, making both dates notable for fans in those regions.
Neither board has named squads for this series yet. On the India side, selectors have a wide pool of white-ball options to weigh, several of them already on show in the T20I squad picked for the Afghanistan series a month earlier — with fitness clearances for Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar and others likely to shape who's rested or rotated in by the time West Indies arrive. West Indies, for their part, have separately named a squad for next year's T20 World Cup, but that group is picked for a different tournament and shouldn't be read as a guide to who tours India in September.
This series lands in an unusually busy stretch for Indian cricket. It follows directly behind the home T20Is against Afghanistan and India's campaign at the Asian Games in Japan, both of which draw from an overlapping pool of white-ball players. How much rotation India's selectors build in across these assignments — rather than fielding closer to first-choice XIs throughout — will be one of the clearer storylines once squads are actually named.
With the calendar now fixed, the next milestone is squad selection from both boards. Given the spread of venues, local ticket demand and pitch behaviour at grounds that don't regularly host internationals will also be worth watching once the series is under way.
