These sessions rarely produce immediate decisions, and this one appears to fit that pattern — one structural question settled, everything else deferred. The more useful signal is timing. The meeting was held with a packed month directly ahead: a T20I series against Afghanistan, the Asian Games, and a home white-ball series against West Indies, all inside four weeks. Calling in the coach and both white-ball captains before that block, rather than after it, suggests the board wanted alignment on selection and workload before the fixtures start rather than a post-mortem once they are done.
The Rohit and Kohli question, meanwhile, remains genuinely open. Neither is in the current T20I picture, the 2027 World Cup is still more than a year away, and the board has now said plainly that it does not intend to litigate their futures publicly. Anything stated more definitively than that, in either direction, is speculation.
